This project posed a number of issues, starting with minimal street access at the location, however it was a challenge we were only too eager to navigate. Only one room remained from the structure of the original house, which meant this build involved an entire renovation with the addition of the two storey rear wing. Building a new business relationship, this was the first time we had worked with these clients with whom we collaborated with in order to maintain the original character and look of the building to ensure it remained in keeping with the rest of the street. We crafted an external dining area simply separated by steel doors making this private courtyard simultaneously a part of the interior living space. The entire effect creates a unique and interesting layout on the ground floor, while flooding the whole downstairs with natural light. The kitchen is clean and modern with a beautiful Herringbone marble finish, which contrasts wonderfully with the rustic feel lent by the visible brick wall along the entry way. Clean, contemporary and filled with artistic touches, this small block in inner Sydney has had life and light breathed through it. Making the most of the space within, this Newtown home fits perfectly into the style and personality of its surrounds.
