White White White

Why is everyone choosing white for their walls?

Just like the fashion industry, interior trends take a cue from past seasons; what was favourable/desirable/fashionable years ago is new again and white is back.

White is clean and fresh and a safe choice however an all-white concept has its own challenges, meaning it’s important to pay attention to the details. Running the risk of feeling cold and austere, styled right & layered with details & materials, the minimalist palette creates depth and has a timeless feel. White creates contrasts with things and effectively opens up a space. White sheers filter and creates shadows which highlights your furnishings. White palettes are calming and cool and easy to create anything around it.

Some key considerations to give to your interior space if you want to successfully deliver an effortless white scheme include:

1. Shade of white
Cool whites, with a grey or blue undertone, create a crisp interior which suits modern and bright spaces.
• Our favourite shades: Dulux Vivid White, Dulux Snowy Mountains Half, Dulux Lexicon Half

Warm whites, with yellow or pink undertones, lend themselves to Sandi-style or more traditional style interiors
• Our favourite shades: Dulux Natural White, Dulux Antique White USA, Dulux Whisper White

2. Painting
New on trend is painting your walls and ceilings the same white not only is it on trend but your painter will love it as there is less cutting in.
• Painting your walls & ceilings the same shade of white can help to add height to your space, which is particularly helpful if you aren’t fortunate enough to have 12ft ceilings
