Modern Semi Extension,
Adding a second storey to their existing home proved a family friendly alternative to buying a bigger home in an overheated property market. Front wall and one side wall were the only original walls remaining of the house everything else was demolished to create a new 2 level family Modern Contemporary home.
The new plan would see this space transformed into open plan living, dining, kitchen. The top floor would house three new bedrooms, all spacious, a bathroom and ensuite. It was a big job, but significantly cheaper than relocating.

Heritage-listed homes are important remnants of our nation’s history. Our client wanted to retain a piece of this history but was open to different design styles to give the home its own character not only by getting a facelift but have usable facilities. Homes of this age come with their own problems and Gardner Construction we able to work within the restrictions to alter this heritage-listed home.
This Sydney single floor, architecturally designed semi-attached 2-bedroom dwelling had been outgrown. Quality was the main focus for our clients and they had strong views on what needed to be included in the new house, it needed to be practical and functional for their large extended family on all occasions.
This house did not have a sense of connection and the floorplan was disjointed and not family friendly. Rooms were closed off, separated and did not allow light and flow into the spaces. They wanted their home to feel connected and open. Open plan living is one of the biggest changes in contemporary home building design. Our aim was that the kitchen was open to living areas and become connected to the backyard.
