Our client came to us with DA approval to transform a small, semi-detached Sydney house into a light-filled open plan home for a young family. The new addition to Maroubra House adds a second storey whilst re-connecting the dwelling to the outdoors and gardens beyond. It was a typical post-war, mass built semi-detached houses in the area, it sat on a small block
Heritage-listed homes are important remnants of our nation’s history. Our client wanted to retain a piece of this history but was open to different design styles to give the home its own character not only by getting a facelift but have usable facilities. Homes of this age come with their own problems and Gardner Construction we able to work within the restrictions to alter this heritage-listed home.
This Sydney single floor, architecturally designed semi-attached 2-bedroom dwelling had been outgrown. Quality was the main focus for our clients and they had strong views on what needed to be included in the new house, it needed to be practical and functional for their large extended family on all occasions.
This house did not have a sense of connection and the floorplan was disjointed and not family friendly. Rooms were closed off, separated and did not allow light and flow into the spaces. They wanted their home to feel connected and open. Open plan living is one of the biggest changes in contemporary home building design.
Our client wanted to achieve a classic Hamptons Style coastal feel home while still being sophisticated and elegant. With the right choice of materials and finishes, a clever and well thought out design we achieved this for this inherited Kingsford family home. Celebrating the beauty of a traditional terrace house in the heart of Paddington, we were commissioned for this project due to our experience and expert attention to detail in period style homes. The Gardner Construction team have a deep affection for this style of property and applied extra time to the project to ensure every detail was exemplary on all of the finishes.
Our aim with this artistic cottage was to maintain the original character and look of the building to ensure it remained in keeping with the rest of the street. This project posed a number of issues, starting with minimal street access at the location, however it was a challenge we were only too eager to navigate. Only one room remained from the structure of the original house, which meant this build involved an entire renovation with the addition of the two-storey rear wing.
Modernise a Traditional Terrace, Paddington. Our main focus was to modernise this narrow terrace and ensure that the house flowed through-out to make it feel sleek and new. We did a small extension out the back and side to make use out of the block size. It was important to make every space feel more spacious so to create open spaces we used sunlights to bring natural light throughout the house.
Gardner construction were great. Importantly they were determined to do things right and make sure the finished product was of the highest standard.
